Welcome to Mia’s World!
Bringing Stories, Science, and Hope to Children
Our first book, The Case of Leo’s Missing Energy, introduces young readers to blood cells, childhood leukemia, and the laboratory professionals who help find answers. Whether read at home, shared in a classroom, or offered to a family navigating illness, Mia’s story makes room for curiosity, kindness, and conversation.
Mission Marvelous
Thanks to our generous supporters, Mission Marvelous raised $3,235 to help bring Mia’s adventures to young readers. Now we’re putting that support to work, connecting with schools, libraries, and care settings to place books, spark curiosity, and open conversations about science and health.
The next chapter
We are grateful for every contribution and are now putting that support to work, coordinating book placements with schools, libraries, and care settings. Thank you to everyone who donated, purchased a book to share, or helped spread the word. We will post updates here as placements are confirmed, along with stories and photographs from participating communities.
Helping champion this next phase is Zoyah Mirza, a Pioneer High School senior interested in psychology and early childhood education. Zoyah is supporting community outreach, book-placement efforts, and storytelling as we follow Mia into new settings.
Learning with Mia
Mia’s adventures are for any child curious about how the body works. We are developing companion lessons that connect the books with STEM learning, blood cells, and medical laboratory careers. Karen Barron, MLS(ASCP), is helping bring this educational work to life, creating opportunities for teachers and other educators to use Mia in their classrooms. We will share links to completed materials as they become available.
